Lawrence Transfer and Storage was founded in Roanoke, Virginia in 1932 by Weldon T. Lawrence, Sr. In 1942, Lawrence Transfer and Storage joined the United Van Lines family to secure loads for our fleet of furniture vans. Weldon T. Lawrence, Jr. succeeded his father as President in 1950 and vigorously set out to establish the Roanoke based operation as one of the leading moving and storage companies in the Eastern United States. In 1968, Lawrence began operating in the Waynesboro, VA area thanks to our acquisition of another local moving company. In 1972 we built a custom warehouse and office facility to house our Waynesboro operations. In July 1976, Lawrence again acquired assets of another moving company and began operations in Durham, NC. In early 1977, this operation was moved to a 15 acre location in the Research Triangle Park near the Raleigh/Durham Airport. As a result of increased business in the Carolina s, a Charlotte, NC location was opened in 1983, and a Greensboro, NC location was opened in 1985.

Comment : Our previous move with a different company had gone horribly. So we were weary about the whole move. Lawrence Co was recommended by our new employer. Since the first time we contacted them, every thing was handled professionally. Marina was our contact person and coordinator and she was always available to answer any of our questions. A local person did a very thorough home analysis. On the day of the move, Bobbi and his crew were punctual and very efficient. They packed and labeled everything really well. Before the delivery date, we were informed of when the truck would arrive. The day of delivery went smoothly. Everything was delivered in a very good condition. We were very pleased with the whole move. Would absolutely recommend this moving company

Comment : I had to relocate a few days ago from Wisconsin and I was in need of a decent packer and mover company. I came across Lawrence Transportation systems through a friend of mine. I have to say, excellent service! They were very professional and prompt in moving. They had all the equipments needed and the crew was the best that I have encountered so far. I’ve had a bad experience with a mover once before. I’m glad there was no repeat of such an incident. The price was very reasonable and was according to what i had in mind. I liked how the crew was able to deal with pressure and crisis management. I was very pleased with the service. I’m pretty sure I’d choose them in the future too.

Comment : They were very easy to work with. The move included moving my washer and dryer and oriental rugs. Everything turned out very well with the move. Comment : They were prompt and more or less efficient. However, the movers damaged our walls and ceiling because they could not figure out how to angle the furniture properly once they did, things slid right in without a problem. They apologized and promised repeatedly that the company would fix the damage, but the company denied liability.

Comment : My son needed to arrange a cross country move on short notice. The company sent an estimator to his home, whereas 5 other companies just quoted him a price over the phone. Once we selected Lawrence, the move coordinator kept in close touch and the move went smoothly. The pickup and delivery times were exactly as promised, and the truck crews were professional. I would recommend this company highly. They said up front they want to please they did
